Direct Line New Look

Hi Everyone

Stay tuned to the Direct Line website for some BIG changes!! Our new site will be released on the second week of September and has an entire new look and feel to it. John and I are excited about the changes as one will be bringing this blog inside our site. The second big change will be our web management system will be accessible "in house" instead of us having to go to a web management company for changes. This means that we can keep our pictures, news and specials current.

We look forward to getting into a regular chat with our active blogger clients.

Rodents with Ed Marshall Segment 1

Hi All

Sorry for the delays but work and video editing seem to be getting in each others way lately. This first interview on Rodents with Ed Marshall is a change from the Bed Bug interviews of late. Ed has many years of rodent experience with Liphatech Corp. and now works with BASF. His technical experience on rodents is well known and respected in the Pest Management industry.

My next blog will be a continuation of my interview with Ed and his take on the future of rodent issues in North America. Future segments will also include a "how to" video on preparing a space to place the Cimex bed bug monitor and further interviews with industry experts on bed bugs, cockroaches and rodents.

Dr. Mike Potter - Bed Bug Interview Segment 2

Hi Everyone

Thanks for all of the great feed back over the last few weeks. I must apologize for the delays but I'm finding out lots of new things about converting video files to fit the upload size restrictions of a blog. I think I finally have it mastered (Do we actually ever really master anything??)
Anyways, I've just finished editing this weeks edition for your viewing। During this interview, Dr. Michael Potter, from The University of Kentucky, talks about how bedbugs are here to stay and his views on the level of the current epidemic. Dr. Potter has some interesting insight.

Dr. Mike Potter - Bed Bugs Interview - Segment 1

Hi All

After a great deal of frustration, I'm happy to report that I have managed to recover and edit (sort of) my first video piece. I've kept the video segments to about 3 minutes to keep it simple. I will have four more interviews with Dr. Mike Potter from the University of Kentucky. In this first interview he talks about the serious challenges of bedbugs.

What Bugs You ! - Bedbugs

"Fred the Bed Bug"

"Sleep well, Sleep tight, don't let the bedbugs bite"

Origin: Old England - Believed to refer to the times when beds were constructed of wood and rope. It was assumed that you would sleep well if the straw tick mattresses were well supported by the ropes being strung tight. Since bedbugs were in such abundance, it was considered polite to wish someone a good sleep (sleep well) and no bites to be bestowed upon them. Many would place the legs of their bedframes in kerosene cans and keep them away from the wall to reduce the chance of bedbugs getting to them.

What's old is new again and we've only just begun to comprehend that bedbugs are here to stay. Experts like Dr. Mike Potter will argue that we enjoyed a 50 year reprieve from bedbugs and we will be dealing with their company for decades to come!

Just wanted to thank those of you who emailed us last week to wish us luck. At the show I was able to get a lot of video of Pest Management Professional Experts who gave us their take on what bugs them. These people include Dr. Mike Potter, from Kentucky on Bedbugs, Joe Barile, from Massachusetts on Cockroaches and Ed Marshell on Rodents. We will have short clips from all of their interviews over the next few months. I will post the first as soon as I can get my editing equipment working correctly.





Anyways. We know that bedbugs are of great concern to the general public and whatever advice or education we can provide that is concise and accurate, we will do our best to report.

Direct Line Sales Starts Blog Publishing

Hi Everyone

Just wanted to let our clients and friends know that we are starting our weekly postings of news and any kind of short educational materials that we come across. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Structural Pest Management Association of Ontario's Annual Symposium on January 20-22, 2009. Please come and visit us at our booth. Our own Dean Stanbridge will be speaking on Mobile Technology and it's Applications in the Pest Management Industry.

Some of you may remember Dean in this picture snapped during one of our technical presentations on spider control. Remember education can be fun. Stay tuned for some fun but informative videos.
